VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT POLICY

The Club has adopted the ECB's Safe Hands Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy

The Club has a Club Welfare Officer, whose terms of reference are described in the Safe Hands Policy. The Club Welfare Officer has undergone the requisite training. The Club Welfare Officer has a place on the Management Committee. In the absence of the Club Welfare Officer, the Chairman will act as his deputy as per guidance.

This policy lays out the ground rules for the recruitment of new volunteers to serve the Club, in particular roles, particularly
o Coaches
o Youth team managers
o Scorers
o Umpires.


Recruitment Policy

All members shall be encouraged to volunteer to perform a role within the Club. In line with the Safe Hands Policy anyone who volunteers to help with children must provide references.

Parents of youth section members shall be encouraged to participate in the running of the youth section. Roles include:
o Running one of the youth teams
o Scoring
o Umpiring.

Team Managers

Volunteers to manage a youth team shall be provided with a briefing of the task and provided with a written Task Description. They will be responsible to the Colts Manager who reports to the cricket & management committee

Team Managers shall be provided with and comply with the Club's Code of Conduct for Team Managers and Officials.

Team Managers shall confirm that they are conversant with the Club's procedures by signing the Club's Volunteers Agreement Form

Team Managers shall be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and provide the number and date given on their Enhanced Disclosure to the Secretary.

Team Managers shall be provided with and maintain an attendance register, a copy of which shall be provided to the Colts Manager on completion of the playing season.


Scorers

Untrained scorers shall receive brief training on how to score.

Scorers shall confirm that they are conversant with the Club's procedures by signing the Club's Volunteers Agreement Form

Qualified scorers who are members of the ACU&S or the ECB ACO shall be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and provide the number given on their Enhanced Disclosure to the Secretary.

Unqualified scorers shall complete a Self Declaration form, a copy of which shall be held by the Secretary.

Umpires

All qualified umpires have to be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.

Umpires shall confirm that they are conversant with the Club's procedures by signing the Club's Volunteers Agreement Form

Unqualified umpires shall complete a Self Declaration Form, a copy of which shall be held by the club.

Coaches

All playing members shall be encouraged to train as coaches. Formal training may be funded/part funded by the Club. This includes child protection and emergency first aid training.

The Club shall recruit qualified coaches to assist the Club's Head Coach with the Club's coaching schedule. Appointed coaches shall be provided with a task description.

Coaches shall confirm that they are conversant with the Club's procedures by signing the Club's Volunteers Agreement Form

Coaches shall be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau

Volunteers Agreement Form

By signing this form the volunteer is confirming that he is conversant with the Club's policies and procedures:
o code of conduct for members and guests
o code of conduct for coaches
o code of conduct for team managers/officials
o codes of conduct for parents/carers/spectators
o child protection policy statement
o equity policy statement
o emergency procedures


By signing this form the volunteer is accepting the responsibilities outlined in the task description provided.

Volunteer Co-Ordinator

He shall ensure that each volunteer is provided with the appropriate task description and code of conduct.

He shall ensure that each volunteer is provided with the required training.

He shall, in conjunction with the Welfare Officer, ensure that each volunteer is checked by the Criminal Records Bureau, where required, or signs a Self Declaration Form.

He shall ensure that each volunteer signs a Volunteer Agreement Form.

He shall ensure that he is provided with copies of evidence of training and qualification certificates.

He shall ensure that each member of the Youth Section and his/her parent or carer have completed:
o Youth Section Registration Form (which includes any known medical condition or allergies)

He will ensure that coaches and team managers maintain attendance records.
